BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Update:

All ten who were arrested in the hazing and death of LSU student Maxwell Gruver have bounded out of the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Details are still limited at this time, however, more information will be released as it arrives.

Ten people have been take into custody for their alleged connection in a hazing incident that resulted in the death of an LSU student, according to the LSU Police Department.

According to authorities, 18-year-old Maxwell Gruver was pronounced dead Sept. 14 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. A report from the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner revealed Gruver's blood-alcohol level was .495 at the time of his death (more than six times the legal limit).

Arrest reports revealed Gruver was one of nearly 20 pledges of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. On Sept. 13, the pledges were required to participate in "Bible Study." During "Bible Study," pledges were asked questions about the fraternity. If they answered incorrectly, they were forced to drink Diesel, which is 190 Proof alcohol.

Witnesses said one of the hazers, Matthew Naquin, targeted Gruver for his tardiness and forced him to drink more than others. As Gruver incorrectly stated the Greek alphabet, he was told to drink. Several pledges said Naquin was the most aggressive hazer and would not stop after being asked to do so.

The "Bible Study" lasted for about 1.5 hours. After midnight, the arrest reports state the pledges laid Gruver on the sofa and left for the night.

On Sept. 14, a witness returned to the fraternity house to check on Gruver. At that time, the victim had a weak pulse and may or may not have been breathing. He was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The following individuals were taken into custody on charges related to Gruver's death:

  • Matthew Alexander Naquin, (charges of hazing and negligent homicide)
  • Zachary Castillo, (charge of hazing)
  • Elliott Eaton, (charge of hazing)

  • Ryan Isto, (charge of hazing)
  • Hudson Kirkpatrick, (charge of hazing)
  • Sean Pennison, (charge of hazing)
