167K Raised at Tullier Benefit Concert

Baton Rouge, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Organizers held a benefit concert for wounded East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputy Nick Tullier, who was ambushed back in the summer of 2016.

The event raised $167 thousand for Nick Tullier's family.

Country music stars and Governor John Bel Edwards were all there.

Max Himmel, cooked meals for Baton Rouge Police Officers during the ambush, which is why he felt personally connected to come out.

"Whenever you have a brother that's been fallen down, that's what you want to do, you'll give up what you have to do," said Max Himmel.

Country music singer Larry Stewart with the band "Restless Heart" hoped his music encouraged people to give money.

"Love to see hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars raised here tonight and I have no doubt that will happen," said Stewart.
