Alexandria man killed in Friday morning vehicle crash

BATON ROUGE, LA (LOCAL33) (FOX44) - An Alexandria man was killed on Friday morning after his vehicle crashed into a tree. 

Around 5:00 a.m on January 12, Louisiana State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 12 about 6 miles from the Texas state line near the community of Starks.

According to LSP, the initial investigation revealed a 2002 Nissan Sentra driven by 54-year-old Charles Bradley Roberts of Alexandria was traveling west on LA 12 at a high rate of speed when the vehicle traveled off the highway into a slight curve and struck a tree.

Sgt. James Anderson of the Louisiana State Police said, Roberts was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

LSP said, a toxicology sample was obtained from Roberts and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
