Altercation leads to first Baton Rouge homicide of 2018

BATON ROUGE, LA (LOCAL33) (FOX44) - The first homicide in Baton Rouge occurred early Monday morning on New Year's Day.

Baton Rouge Police detectives say that a fatal shooting took place around 1:45 a.m. in the 2600 block of Balis Drive. 

The fatal shooting took the life of Trenity Grimes, 29, of 4685 Bawell Street. 

According to BRPD, Grimes was seen suffering from apparent gunshot injuries and died at the scene. 

Investigators believe the shooting resulted from an altercation. 

There are no known suspects at this time and anyone with information is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
