Ascension Parish urging water customers to prepare for cold weather

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Parish Utilities of Ascension officials are urging customers to prepare for the cold weather.

According to the National Weather Service, low temperatures in Ascension Parish are expected to be in the 20s over the next several days, and the cold temperatures are expected to last longer than the previous cold spell.

Martin McConnell of the Parish of Ascension said because of subfreezing temperatures in the coming days, customers are urged to protect exposed pipes and are asked to help to conserve water by not running faucets beyond a slow drip during freezing times.

Customers are encouraged to watch for signs of water leaks, especially at the homes of neighbors who are away, and report them by calling the emergency line at 225-450-1078.
