Broussard middle school student arrested for bringing gun to school

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Broussard Police arrested a 13-year-old middle school student on Friday for bringing a gun to school.

On December 1, 2017, a Broussard Middle School student was found to have a gun in their book sack.

School officials located the gun in the student's book sack during last hour classes.

A police investigation showed that the gun belonged to the student's mother and she did not realize it was gone.

The mother stated that she usually kept the gun in the glove compartment of her car.

According to police, no students were injured or threatened with the gun and the gun did have one round in the magazine.

Brannon Decou, Broussard Chief of Police stressed in a press release that parents should try to check students book sacks to make sure they are bringing only school approved items to school with them.
