BRPD charge man with murder of girlfriend after allegedly setting house-fire

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Baton Rouge Police are charging a man with murder for allegedly setting a house fire that killed his girlfriend. Also, additional charges of attempted murder have filed against in him for the three people who managed to escape the fire.

The victim, Amanda Korkosz, was found inside her home on Henagen Ave. around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, May 26. An autopsy shows that she died of smoke inhalation.

Edward Allen Jr., was arrested initially on charges of false communication of a planned arson after witnesses claimed he threatened to burn the house down if Korkosz put him out again. Witnesses also claim to have seen him "walking at a fast pace" near the residence the day after the alleged argument.

Baton Rouge Fire Department have also included a charge aggravated arson stating that Allen intentionally set the fire in the living room of the home using a liquid accelerant. 

Allen has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
