Domestic violence shooting victim dies, identified as sergeant at Angola Prison

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - UPDATE: The victim who was reportedly fatally shot Tuesday during a domestic violence incident served as a sergeant at the Louisiana's State Penitentiary. 

Officials said 34-year-old Laquetra Pidgeon died Thursday after being shot Tuesday morning in the 5400 block of Banyan Trace Drive. 

Pidgeon began serving as a sergeant at the Angola prison in March. 

Previous Story: Baton Rouge Police detectives are investigating an apparent attempted murder-suicide that happened Tuesday morning in the 5400 block of Banyan Trace Drive. 

According to the authorities, the incident happened around 10:45 a.m. after 29-year-old Daniel Johnson allegedly shot his girlfriend and then himself. 

The female victim has been taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
