BRPD warns drivers to be patient and expect delays Sunday morning

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - The Baton Rouge Police Department is warning drivers to be patient and expect delays Sunday morning due to the Louisiana Marathon.

The race starts at 7 a.m. downtown and will wind across a large portion of the city reaching the Tara Blvd. subdivision to the east and the LSU campus to the west.

The following roads will be closed:

  • 4th Street
  • North Blvd. (from 4th St. to 19th St.)
  • Park Blvd. (from Government St. to Dalrymple Dr.)
  • Kleinert Ave. (partial closure from Perkins Rd. to Hearthstone Dr.)

The Baton Rouge Police Department said they are expecting 2,000 runners on the road. The department will be assisting drivers through some intersections to ensure safety.
