Coushatta man killed in dump truck rollover crash on Thursday

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - A Coushatta man was killed on Thursday when his dump truck rolled over and crashed on LA 1.

On December 28, in Red River Parish, the Louisiana State Police was called to a one-vehicle crash on LA 1, about 1 mile south of US 84.

Around 11:00 a.m., LSP arrived at the scene of the crash and found that a 2017 Peterbilt dump truck driven by 61-year-old Dennis R. Williams of Coushatta was traveling south on LA 1, about one mile south of US 84 in Red River Parish.

The initial investigation found that due to a suspected tire failure, the loaded dump truck ran off the road and overturned.

TPR Glenn Younger of the Louisiana State Police said, Williams was ejected during the crash and sustained fatal injuries.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by the Red River Parish Coroner’s Office.

Impairment is not suspected and a toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
