Domestic violence leads to overnight murder suicide

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - A domestic shooting incident at 2136 North Lobdell Blvd. took the lives of two people on Thursday night.

 

Sgt. L'Jean McKneely, of the BRPD, said the shooting happened around 10:50 p.m on February 1.

 

Mckneely said, Zachary Washington, 31, shot and killed his girlfriend, Shanta Matthews, 33 and then turned the gun on himself during a verbal agreement.

 

BRPD said that Washington and Matthews lived at 2136 North Lobdell Blvd. with their two children.

 

According to Mckneely, Washington and Matthews died at the scene, and no one else was injured during the shooting incident.
