Donate Before You Tailgate Blood Drive on September 7

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Each September, United Blood Services hosts the “Donate Before You Tailgate” blood drive to recover from Labor Day blood usage. This year’s event comes at the perfect time to honor those affected by Hurricane Harvey with blood donations.

Donors will be needed in the weeks and months to come both in our local communities and in the areas working to recover and rebuild from this tragedy. Please help ensure an adequate blood supply across our nation by donating regularly. You can help by donating on Thursday, September 7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at United Blood Services located at 8234 One Calais, the service road at Essen and I-10.  

All donors will receive a Donate Before You Tailgate event t-shirt and a free movie ticket through points in the online rewards store.  T-shirts are while supplies last. All donors are entered win five grand prizes and breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served.

To save time, donors can visit www.UnitedBloodServices.org the day of their donation and click on the “Fast Track Health History”. This allows donors to complete the interview portion of their donation online, in the privacy of their home or office.  Make sure to print your “Fast track donation ticket” and bring it with you to your donation.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 year’s old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 years of age must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.  The 16 year old donor permit form can be located at www.UnitedBloodServices.org. Donors receive a free cholesterol test. Donors also earn points in our “Hero in Me” online rewards store.  Points can be redeemed for movie tickets, $15 pizza cards, $15 shopping cards and more at www.bloodhero.com.  A photo ID is required to donate.
