Early morning fire causes a million dollars worth in damages

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Baton Rouge Fire crews battled an early morning fire at a two story house in the 1000 block of Longwood Drive. 

According to authorities, firefighters arrived on scene of at 12:22 a.m. with a second alarm called at 1:10 a.m. Saturday morning at 1055 Longwood Dr. with the fire being visible in the upper floor of the structure which quickly spread through the attic of the home. No one was home at the time of the fire because the home was being remodeled.

Although firefighters remained on scene until 5:10 a.m. assuring hot spots were extinguished, the fire was put under control at 2:23 a.m.,

Firefighters were successful in keeping the flames from spreading to adjacent structures.

The structure is considered a total loss and damages are estimated at one million.

Baton Rouge Fire Investigators have not determined a cause as of this release but stated they do not suspect foul play.
