EBR Parish Schools Superintendent Warren Drake urging sales tax renewal

BATON ROUGE, LA (LOCAL33) (FOX44) - East Baton Rouge Parish Schools Superintendent Warren Drake is urging residents to renew a 1 cent sales tax to benefit the growth of local schools.

According to Drake the sales tax, which has been in place since 1998, has greatly contributed to the continued growth of EBR schools. The sales tax is up for renewal again. Residents will be able to vote on whether or not to renew the tax on the upcoming ballot in April. The school board is holding several open forums to educate the public on the tax and what it means for EBR Parish schools. The next forum is set for Tuesday, January 23 at Scottlandville Magnet High School from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information on the tax renewal and community meetings visit http://www.ebrschools.org/.
