Gas prices go back up in Baton Rouge after one week reprieve

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - If you go to the gas pump in Baton Rouge today you should notice a slight increase in what you are paying for gas.

According to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com, average retail gas prices rose by 1.5 cents per gallon last week.

The average price at a Baton Rouge gas station on Sunday was 19 cents higher than it was on April 15, 2017.

GasBuddy.com said the average gas price in Baton Rouge on Sunday was $2.38 per gallon.

Baton Rouge residents still pay a lot less than their national counterparts who on average paid $2.71 per gallon last week.

"The seasonal surge at gas pumps is in full motion, causing the most dreaded time of year for fearful motorists, especially of what may still be coming," said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.
