IBM to expand tech career training opportunities for Louisiana veterans

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - IBM, along with several organizations, are joining forces to provide hiring opportunities to U.S. veterans.

The collaboration will expand a nationwide training initiative that certifies veterans in the use of IBM software widely used by law enforcement, cybersecurity and national security agencies.

The Veteran Employment Accelerator Initiative, spearheaded by IBM and Corporate America Supports You, provides former and current service members with a week of intensive training, free certification, and employment assistance.

The program is designed to build in-demand technology skills to prepare veterans for "new collar” careers in the U.S. skilled positions. Hundreds of U.S. veterans are expected to participate in the program this year.

The Louisiana National Guard Pelican Employment Network is also involved in the collaboration.
