Louisiana police agencies joined forces to fight internet crimes against children.

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Attorney general Jeff Landry had high praise for all agencies involved in "operation broken heart" ..., which was part of a national effort to end child exploitation over a two-month period this past spring.

Many arrests were made to protect our children and young victims from the crime.

"In April and May of this year as part of operation broken heart our internet crimes against  children task force or ICAC comprised of over 155 law enforcement agencies have arrested 51 alleged perpetrators on charges ranging from possessions...distribution…and production of sexual abusive images and videos of children to solicitation of minors..."

Internet crimes against children...also known as...ICAC...is made up of 155 law enforcement agencies in Louisiana...it started on April first through the end of May...

Attorney Landry says he's asking parents to pay attention to their children when they're on their cell phone...and on the internet.....

It's a fight against child exploitation....Louisiana police agencies joined forces to stop internet crimes against children...and remind parents to keep an eye on their children while they are on their phones and social media.

This is personal for attorney general Jeff Landry as he reflects "operation broken heart" to not only his own child…but to the children across the country...

"As a father of a 12 year old son I know that I will do anything to protect him and as your attorney general I will do everything that I can to protect the children of this state and this country."

This will be the 4th year of the national effort to end child exploitation...throughout April until the end of May...Louisiana police agencies arrested 51 perpetrators on charges ranging from possession...distribution...and production of sexual abusive images and videos of children...

"Recently ICAC force arrested a man in New Orleans finding over 100 thousand images stored in his device…though this number is hard to imagine just one count and one image is enough to shake anyone"

Over 100 law enforcement agencies in Louisiana were involved in internet crimes against children…also known as ICAC…but Landry says they could use more help...with this message to all parents…

"Again I'd like to send a message out to parents...this is summer time and of course your kids hopefully are enjoying the summer please be conigsendive that they could be playing with their cell phones maybe on the internet talking to your children about interent safety...understand that there are people that we are trying to take off the streets…prey on anyone’s child...the ability to access those children is easy so please please please please i beg you…know what your child is looking at on the internet...know who they are texting..who they are facetiming...who they are spending time on Instagram with ...and on Facebook."
