Man accused of inviting friend to dinner then shooting him

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Update:

Abozar Shahsavar, 63, died yesterday evening from his gunshot injuries that were sustained on September 18 around 7:26 p.m. at 3088 Crestwood Street.

Shahsavar was shot by a friend, Darioush Haghighi, who was arrested for Attempted Second Degree Murder, however the charges have now been upgraded to 2nd Degree Murder.

Haghighi is still in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

The Baton Rouge Police Department has arrested a suspect accused of shooting his friend after inviting him to dinner. 

According to authorities, 59-year-old Darioush Haghighi was arrested Monday night on charges of attempted second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. 

Authorities said Haghighi invited his 63-year-old friend to dinner. Shortly after his friend arrived, authorities said several gunshots were heard outside the residence at 3088 Crestwood Street. 

The victim was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Authorities said Haghighi was witnessed placing a handgun in a trashcan near the driveway.
