Man arrested in accidental shooting death of nephew

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - St. Martin Parish Sheriff's deputies have arrested a suspect accused of accidentally shooting and killing his 3-year-old nephew. 

According to authorities, the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Kennedy Drive in Arnauldville. Authorities said 28-year-old Dracolby Journet was arrested in connection to the shooting. 

After the shooting, the toddler was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

Journet has been booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on charges of illegal possession of a stolen firearm and obstruction of justice. A bond has not yet been set.
