Mandeville homeowner arrested for pulling gun on kids rolling houses

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Police arrested a Mandeville man on Thursday for aggravated assault with a firearm and obstruction of a roadway.

According to police, Craig Scott, a homeowner who lives in the 80 block of Cardinal Ln. in Mandeville, grabbed his gun while the students were rolling or toilet-papering a house in his neighborhood.

Students traditionally throw toilet paper onto the houses of fellow classmates, usually as part of a Homecoming ritual.

On Oct. 27, Scott allegedly blocked the street preventing their escape and confronted them with his semi-automatic pistol.

After booking at the Mandeville Police Complex, Scott was taken to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

“Though he had ample opportunity, Mr. Scott never once called 911 or requested police assistance. The end clearly did not justify the means this situation,” Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker said.

This incident is still under investigation and additional charges could still be brought against those responsible for “rolling the house,” which is technically considered criminal mischief by statute.
