Maurepas man dies in three car accident

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Louisiana State Police responded to a fatal three vehicle accident Wednesday October 10 around 8 p.m in Ascension Parish claiming the life of a Maurapas man.

According to authorities, the victim, 21-year-old David Day, was traveling eastbound on LA 429 and collided head-on with Kyle Cornett, 23, who was traveling westbound. For reasons still under investigation, Day crossed the centerline into westbound lane and struck Cornett’s.

The impact caused Day’s vehicle to rotate as it continued moving east.  Day’s vehicle was then struck a second time by 27-year-old Raymond Farr.

Day was properly restrained, however, he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office.

Cornett and Farr were both restrained and were not injured in the crash.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from all drivers for analysis.
