Multiple cars broken into in Woodland Ridge neighborhood over the weekend

Homeowners in the Woodland Ridge subdivision are upset after several cars were broken into over the weekend.

Kevin Hussey, a resident, did not expect to be one of the many victims in the neighborhood. He lost his wallet and a firearm.

"We think he [is] probably looking for money for drugs or guns," said Hussey.

In a surveillance video provided by his neighbor, you can see a man breaking into a black jeep, searching for items, and then taking off on his bike.

"Nothing was found missing from my wife's car," said Hussey. "[Our cars] were both unlocked unfortunately. That [is] a lesson I think we've both learned."

According to a study, more than one billion dollars in personal items are stolen from vehicles in almost two million thefts in the nation. That calculates almost $500 dollars for every break in.

"One of our daughters' friend was over and she came in the house for no more than ten minutes and someone came onto our property and stole her purse," he said. "Be vigilant, lock your doors, and protect your property."

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 344- STOP (7867)
