Ochsner holds transplant holiday party

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Doctors, nurses, and staff at the Ochsner Multi-Organ Transplant Institute, along with hundreds of transplant recipients, living donors and their family members came together Thursday to celebrate the gift of life at the transplant holiday party. 

Three-year-old Briggs, a Baton Rouge resident and three time Ochsner liver transplant recipient, enjoyed meeting Santa and spending time with other patients. 

Currently, more than 116,000 men, women and children are awaiting organ transplants to save their lives. More than 2,000 of those people are in Louisiana. 

Since its inception in 1994, Ochsner’s Transplant Institute has performed more than 6,500 life saving transplants.
