Pedestrian hit by train in Baton Rouge on Monday night

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - UPDATE: (1/29) 9:16 p.m.

Sgt. Coppola said that an investigation at the scene showed that the train was traveling north on the tracks.

Coppola said that a 49-year-old male victim attempted to cross to the east side of the tracks when he was struck.

The victim is in critical condition at a local hospital.  

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE: (1/29) 8:30 p.m.

Sgt. Don Coppola confirmed that all lanes are now open.

Sgt. Don Coppola, of the Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed that a pedestrian was hit by a train on Monday night. 

BRPD responded to the scene at 8300 Scenic Highway around 6 p.m. and Coppola said that Northbound and Southbound lanes are currently shut down at Hwy 19.

According to Sgt. Coppola, Highway 19 is open and the pedestrian is in critical condition.
