Red Cross promotes "Turn and Test" campaign for fire safety

A reminder and tips for Daylight Savings time

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - The Red Cross and first responders in an effort to raise fire safety awareness they are pushing a project to remind people of the importance of checking fire safety equipment.

Since 2014, this “Turn and Test” campaign has saved an estimated 268 lives and hopes to prevent even more at home fires by reminding people to stay vigilant in keeping up with their fire safety equipment and staying prepared all year. By having checking at home smoke detectors synonyms Daylight Savings time, the hope is to increase awareness and reduce the number of casualties.

Also an important fact to remember is ensuring that fire extinguishers, nearly 38 million of them are being recalled in the United States with two styles in particular having issues working properly. The models with a plastic handle and plastic push buttons have been reported to fail in discharging or the nozzle might to detach.
