Three in custody for Baker High School fire

BAKER, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Baker Fire Department responded to a fire at Baker High School around 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon which impacted one part of the school.

Authorities have ruled the fire as an arson and have arrested three juveniles in connection with the incident.

According to Baker Fire Chief Hunt, the fire was contained to one hallway in an empty part of the building as it was undergoing repairs.

"The building was already gutted out for repairs so it was basically a shell," Hunt stated. "The building was not a total loss however the damage was significant to the roof over what would have been two classrooms."

No one was injured in this incident, however, one firefighter did "over heat" while battling the blaze according to the fire chief.

The three juveniles, whose identities have not yet been released, have been booked and processed in Baker. No formal charges have been made public at this time.

More information will be released as it arrives.
