Tuff Shed donates building to school in need

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) - Tuff Shed, Inc., the Denver-based manufacturer and installer of storage buildings and garages, has selected Southside Elementary School as the winner of the company’s Back to School Promotion, and will install a new storage building for the Denham Springs, La. school on March 31st.

Chosen due to the immense damage caused by flooding in the fall of 2016, Southside Elementary School was one of dozens of applicants from across the nation for the Tuff Shed building. Nancy Nichols, Pre-K Teacher at Southside Elementary School, first learned about the building giveaway through Facebook. “My friend sent me the link for the contest and I knew I had to nominate our school. Our previous storage shed was lost in the flood and we would not have been able to replace it.”

A team of administrators from Southside Elementary school chose a 10’ x 20’ ranch style Tuff Shed building, which will be used to store maintenance and playground equipment, janitorial supplies, and other miscellaneous items. The building will also be installed on skids so it can be transferred to the school’s new campus when it is ready sometime in the next 3-5 years.

Ms. Nichols looks forward to getting the school and students back into a routine. “It’s been a challenge over the past few months,” says Nichols, “We’re a Title 1 school and are doing our best to rebuild again and we’re making progress.”

“The community here really pulled together after last year’s floods, and we’re
proud to be able to help with Southside Elementary’s rebuilding process,” says Tommy Sedotal, Regional Director for Tuff Shed. “We just moved our Louisiana production facility from New Orleans to Baton Rouge, so we were thrilled when a local school was chosen as the winner of this promotion.”

Tuff Shed products include wooden backyard storage sheds, larger commercial storage buildings, garages and cabin shells. The company works with its customers to design and accessorize buildings, then pre-fabricates key building components at its manufacturing facilities so it can deliver and install buildings on the customer site. Over its 35 years Tuff Shed has designed, fabricated and installed more than 900,000 buildings, and is projected to sell its one millionth building in late 2017.
