Unrestrained Breaux Bridge man killed in single vehicle crash on Saturday

BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - A Breaux Bridge man was killed on Saturday after his vehicle traveled off the road. 

LSP said the the crash claimed the life of 22-year-old Andre Goodyear of Breaux Bridge.

On December 30, 2017, around 7 a.m., Louisiana State Police was called to the scene of a single vehicle fatal crash on LA Highway 347 near Albert Leblanc Road in St. Martin Parish.

The initial Police investigation indicated that Goodyear was driving a 2003 Mercedes-Benz passenger car south on LA Highway 347.

For reasons still under investigation, Goodyear failed to negotiate a left curve and traveled off the right side of the road.

M/T Brooks David of the Louisiana State Police said the vehicle then entered a ditch, struck a culvert and overturned.

The victim was unrestrained and was subsequently ejected from the vehicle.

Goodyear was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Martin Parish Coroner.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash and routine toxicology samples are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
