BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - UPDATE: (01/26)
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at 18733 Samuels Road around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Casey Hicks, Public Information Director for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department confirmed that two men were killed and a third was injured because of the shooting.
The two men who were killed have been identified as 24-year-old Leonard Cummings III and 20-year-old Tyrion Gwinn,
According to Hicks, Cummings III and Gwinn were both residents of the trailer park and were found dead at the scene.
Hicks said the injured man was transported to the hospital where he is expected to fully recover.
EBRSO said that their investigation has shown that Cummings, Gwinn and the third man went to the trailer of 30-year-old Quinton George where they entered into a physical confrontation with 30-year-old Randy Johnson.
Hicks said, at some point during the altercation, George allegedly produced a gun and fired at the three subjects.
According to Hicks, George and Johnson went to the Baker Police Department to report what occurred and EBRSO Detectives interviewed both men as well as other witnesses.
Detectives believe that evidence on scene as well as witness statements indicate that the two deceased men were the aggressors in the incident.
Hicks said, George was booked into parish prison for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Johnson was booked on a family court bench warrant.
This investigation is still ongoing and more information will be provided when it becomes available.
