Fewer Storms To Dodge Late In The Workweek

The heat and humidity stay with us.

7-16-2017 - FORECAST: Sunday's round of scattered rain and storms will come to an end around 10 pm, followed by a dry overnight. Morning lows will be near 73 degrees.

Monday will start with a lot of sunshine, but by the lunch hour another round of scattered showers and storms will start to fire off. Most of us will see rain at some point in the afternoon or evening, but a few areas will stay dry all day. Afternoon highs will be near 92 degrees with the humidity making it feel closer to 100.

Storm chances will remain elevated Tuesday and Wednesday with highs staying in the low 90s.

While we will continue to dodge afternoon storms in the second half of the week, there shouldn't be as many across south Louisiana. This will help more of us stay dry each day.

TROPICS: An area of lower pressure over the Atlantic could be our next tropical system... but chances are still fairly low. The National Hurricane Center gives the area a 40% chance of developing into a tropical depression or tropical storm in the next 5 days as it moves west towards the Caribbean. For now, impacts to the Gulf of Mexico remain low.
