Crystal Whitman

Crystal Whitman is a Louisiana native who is thrilled to have made her way across the state to south Louisiana where she eats as much fresh seafood that she can get her hands on! Crystal was born in north Louisiana where she was a morning anchor and morning reporter. She transferred to NBC Local 33 News in December of 2018 from the sister station NBC 6 News in Shreveport and is very active in the community.

A graduate of Northwestern State University, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.

In her first few months in Baton Rouge, Crystal covered stories that garnered national attention such as the Louisiana Ice-cream licker arrest, the Florida woman who bit a camel, to the murder of a beloved local Civil Rights icon.

During her time at in Shreveport, Crystal interviewed Rick Santorum 2012 Republican Vice President Nominee and covered former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Joining Forces project. She has also interviewed entertainers including Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, and Charlie Wilson. It was at NBC 6 News where Crystal met and married her husband Mac who created a lifestyle show for her, Crystal’s Hot Seat where Crystal did in-depth interviews with news makers and shakers with a Louisiana flair.

Crystal also covered several crime stories in Flint, Michigan during her time at WEYI. She’s also worked in KAIT in Jonesboro, Arkansas and anchored the #1 morning show in Alexandria, Louisiana, KALB. She also spent some time in Central Louisiana as the weekend anchor in West Monroe, LA for KTVE. 

When she is not out in the field gathering news, Crystal loves traveling, being by the water and taking morning walks with her Yorkie Terrier Oreo.
