Shannon Heckt is excited to have her first experience covering the south and politics in the beautiful city of Baton Rouge. She joins the WVLA/WGMB team after nearly three years as a reporter in Hastings, Nebraska at KSNB. She has covered murder trials, severe weather damage, politics, city development, and much more. She was part of an Emmy nominated newscast and was recognized for her coverage by the IAFF. Shannon graduated in 2018 from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University. As a native of the Pacific Northwest, she enjoys the outdoors and exploring new places which has brought her to Louisiana. When not at work she can be found reading in coffee shops finding the best cup of joe in town.
