Tarvarious Haywood was born and raised in the “Home of the Blues” – Memphis, Tennessee. He is proud to start another chapter in his career, where he will serve as WVLA 44/ WGMB 33 new evening anchor.
Tarvarious graduated from Florida Memorial University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast communications.
While attending Florida Memorial he served as treasurer and vice president of the university’s chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. He also served as a newsroom intern for the ABC affiliate, WPLG Local 10 News in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Upon graduation, Tarvarious hopped on a bus for a two-and-a-half-day ride from Memphis to Great Falls, Montana. In Big Sky Country, he served as a multi-media journalist and news producer. He covered the wildfires of 2017 that wreaked havoc on most of the state and covered blizzards on the Blackfeet Reservation.
In his most recent role as a reporter at WWMT in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Tarvarious news that got national attention where six men plotted to kidnap Michigan’s governor and overthrow the state government.
Tarvarious is married to his college sweetheart Christina, and their sons, Tarvarious Jr., or “TJ” and Tobias.
When Tarvarious is not working, he enjoys lifting weights, hunting, fishing, mentoring and of course EATING!
