Southern’s first true SWAC road game is actually a homecoming of sorts, as the Jaguars prepare to face Prairie View A&M Saturday.

Head coach Eric Dooley led the Panthers to the conference title game last year and Jason Dumas finished as an All-SWAC Defensive Team member for three straight years there.

Yet, the two said they’re not going to let the emotions get to them.

“You don’t let it get you off the mark. You continue to do what put you on a road to be successful.” Dooley said.

“I can’t see myself playing for anybody else other than Coach Dooley because I was with him from the jump. And we have the same mindset. And I look at him as a father figure.” Dumas said.

The Jaguars are coming off a strong performance from their offensive line. The front five created over 250 rushing yards and almost 300 yards through the air, including some plays in which Southern players weren’t even touched on their way to the end zone.

“I give all my praise and glory to the front five linemen up there because them some dogs right there. When they come through that, they’re going to move you out the way.” Running back Kendric Rhymes said.
