BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern returned to Baton Rouge with cheers and roars from Jaguar Nation, after winning the 2021 SWAC Tournament. The Jags repeated as conference champions and battled through a myriad of adversity: a shortened off-season, COVID-19 restrictions, lineup changes and an interim head coach. Still, Southern beat the odds and will play in the NCAA Tournament.
“I’m happy for my players to come back to experience this. Not many times you go to college you get to play for a championship and get to a regional. I know a lot of people that’s been involved with baseball many years, and they never get to play in a regional so this is what you do it for,” Southern head baseball coach Chris Crenshaw said.
The Jaguars will wait until Selection Monday, on May 31st, to find out where they’ll play in the NCAA Tournament.
