Southern looking for consistency at QB

Jaguar Nation

BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern had a revolving door at quarterback last season with Ladarius Skelton and Bubba McDaniel starting several games for the Jaguars. With new offensive coordinator Zach Grossi, naming a starting quarterback could be a challenge on the Bluff.

“I think Ladarius Skelton. It’s his job to lose. That would my impression. I’m not sure because you have a new coach coming in so he may say ‘everybody’s on the same level and the best player wins.’ You have to give Glendon McDaniel, where they’re 1-A and 1-B,” Jaguar Journal’s Reggie Flood said.

In 2019, Skelton was just short of becoming the first 1,000 yard passer and 1,000 rusher in Jaguar history, but for Southern to get back to the SWAC Championship Game, the Pine Bluff native will have to get the ball to his receivers consistently.

“He doesn’t have to be great in passing game. Just hit open receivers. Just make the right reads and hit open receivers because what’s happening now to teams is they come in and say ‘we’re not going to let Skelton beat us with his feet.'”
