BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern’s air attack continued to highlight the Jaguars’ offense, after the team’s first scrimmage. Interim head coach Jason Rollins said senior quarterback Ladarius Skelton’s passing was a key point of Saturday’s preseason action.
“He’s absolutely, really, really good. He stood in the pocket, delivered the ball, went through his progressions and looking well, exactly what we thought,” Rollins said.
Skelton’s passing numbers could increase this season thanks to the return of one player: Senior wide receiver Jamar Washington. The stocky pass catcher’s playmaking ability also shined on Saturday.
“He made a lot of explosive plays. He’s gonna help us out in our return game as well, and he brings a lot of leadership back,” Rollins added.
The Jags next, and final, scrimmage in fall camp will be Saturday, and Southern fans, at the moment, will still pack A.W. Mumford Stadium.
“They’re a part of us so it’s always good to have the fans involved. They push us. They make us who we are,” the interim head coach said.
