BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Southern is preparing to play LSU for the first time ever Saturday, September 10.

The Tigers are over 40 point favorites to win the game, but Southern University’s Head Coach Eric Dooley isn’t concerned with the outside world’s opinion.

Instead, Dooley is focused on what he can learn about his team.

“I think the big thing is giving you a measuring stick to see where your team is at. You want to see how you can lie down against some of the best talent. And that’s what it’s all about, being very, very competitive,” Dooley said.

Thousands will be watching the matchup, meaning the game is the perfect stage for Southern’s standout players to get noticed.

“Definitely, we got some guys on our d-line for sure, but definitely guys on this team that have aspirations and the talent to take to the next level,” Graduate Defensive End Jalen Ivy said.

Aside from football, everyone in Baton Rouge is looking forward to the halftime performances by each school’s band. There are even potential plans of a joint performance.
