The Jaguars came to Arlington, but their offense was nowhere to be found as Texas
Southern shutout Southern 24-0.

It’s the second week in a row the blue and gold played from behind after being dominated in the first quarter.

“We can’t come out and wait for somebody to go to throw the first punch for us to fight back. I just feel like we came out flat and they came out swinging and we couldn’t wait for them to put up 14 points for us to start retaliating and put our foot down to play our defense. But I can say it won’t happen again.” said Southern linebacker Derrick Williams.

Anytime the offense started to gain momentum, they suffered setbacks of their own demise.

“Penalties. Lot of penalties, we just got to be more disciplined, just you know, go back to the drawing boards and be more disciplined at practice. And you know we’re going to turn over from there.” said Southern wide receiver Chandler Whitfield.

“That’s just to me, effort, discipline wise. And I think some things we got to correct on that because it did slow down some big plays for us. Again, it’s a long season, so we understand that we dug ourselves this hole we got to come out of.” said Southern head coach Eric Dooley.
