BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) ––– Theatre Baton Rouge is putting on a production of the groundbreaking play, “Boys in the Band,” offering a glimpse into the lives of the nine men as they navigate friendship, relationships and identity.

The play is set in Michael’s apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where a group of friends gathers to celebrate their friend Howard’s birthday. It starts out lightheartedly, but the night takes a turn when Michael’s college friend, Allen, crashes the party.

The show’s director, Brandon Guillory, said the show leaves a lasting impression on the audience: “I think when people are leaving crying, it’s because they’re having a really strong reaction to the material, and my favorite bits after the show are talking with them and talking about what questions they’ve thought of as they watch the show.”

Boys in the Band runs now through Jan. 29. Click here for Theatre Baton Rouge tickets.
