Important Information from CIS for heart patients during pandemic:

CIS remains open, and we are continuing to see patient’s in-office as well as offering virtual and telephonic visits- depending on the nature of the issue they are experiencing.  We have precautions in place to protect their health, and we want our patients to know that their heart health and safety during this time is our top priority.  In addition, we are taking the following steps:

·         CIS is screening visitors upon their arrival to our clinic.

·         We are practicing social distancing and frequent hand-washing.

·         All exam rooms and patient areas are being sanitized after every patient visit.

It is important to remember that while the COVID-19 pandemic is top of mind due to its viral and contagious nature — every 37 seconds an American citizen dies of heart disease.  So, it is important to maintain your heart health even during this uncertain time, especially if you are experiencing signs and symptoms.

What do you want patients to know about maintaining their heart health during this time?

Dr. Garland Green: A pandemic such as this is a very stressful time, and stress is a risk factor for heart disease.  If a patient has already been diagnosed with heart disease, this is something patients need to pay attention to and take action.  If they are experiencing symptoms, it is important that they consult their care provider because the goal is to avoid any potential hospitalizations at this time.

Cardiovascular Institute of the South was founded in 1983 by Dr. Craig Walker, who first established the company as a one-physician practice in Houma, Louisiana. Driven by a desire to serve and heal people in his community, Dr. Walker envisioned CIS as a leader in the development of new techniques and technologies in the treatment of both coronary and peripheral artery diseases.

Today, CIS continues to grow and expand to multiple locations striving to make the most advanced cardiovascular care accessible to a wide spectrum of communities across Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. We believe that our unwavering dedication to the CIS mission of providing the highest quality cardiovascular care has truly been the cornerstone of this successful growth.
