Cardiovascular Institute of the South to host “Great American SmokeOut” celebration

Every year in the U.S., more than 480,000 people die from tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke, making it the leading cause of preventable death in this country. That’s according to the American Lung Association.

Quitting can be difficult, and the decision to quit is always a personal one. The good news is, the Cardiovascular Institute of the South, with locations in Baton Rouge, Prairieville, and Zachary, has a comprehensive smoking cessation program. For those patients who qualify, it provides free medication and nicoteine replacement, counselling, and since the journey to becoming a non-smoker is different for everyone, they offer personalized “quit plans”.

Once again this year, CIS is hosting a big celebration for the Great American SmokeOut. There will be party favors, games and information at the all day event on Thursday, November 21st at all three CIS locations. Those interested can stop by any time during business hours, 7 a.m. till 5 p.m. on that day.

Driven by a desire to serve and heal people in his community, Dr. Walker envisioned CIS as a leader in the development of new techniques and technologies in the treatment of both coronary and peripheral artery diseases.

Today, CIS continues to grow and expand to multiple locations striving to make the most advanced cardiovascular care accessible to a wide spectrum of communities across Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. We believe that our unwavering dedication to the CIS mission of providing the highest quality cardiovascular care has truly been the cornerstone of this successful growth.
