BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — You don’t need a “microscope” to find our next extraordinary educator. Mrs. Angel Harris is a science teacher at Park Medical Academy, and we wanted to show why she “matters”.

Ask any student what their favorite subject is, and more than likely science isn’t it, but Mrs. Harris wants her students to embrace it, learn it, and love it.

“The world around them is science,” Harris said. “They do science every day and they don’t realize they do it.”

Mrs. Harris teaches sixth and seventh grade science. She says the classwork can get a little hard.

“Today they are learning about oncology and the way organisms interact in the ecosystem,” she explained.

In case you didn’t know, there’s also a “science” behind keeping her kids interested.

“You have to relate it to real life, because science is real life,” said Harris.

Along with making science enjoyable, Mrs. Harris also makes sure her kids know this one important thing.

“We tell students they are loved, and you are somebody,” said Harris. “You are enough.”
