BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Keeping children off their electronic devices during the holidays can be tough, especially while they are out of school on break.

However, consumer experts recommend screen-free holiday activities for children, such as slot car racing or other projects that the entire family can enjoy.

Over the past two years, students were forced to use electronic devices at home for learning because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Frank Teissen, CEO of Carrera of America, says there are fun activities for everyone that don’t involve watching television or playing video games.

“Slot car racing is something that can be enjoyed by the whole family. It’s not just kids but for parents, and it’s not just the boys but also the girls. It’s gender neutral and crosses all ages. It can be enjoyed by family and friends,” said Teissen.

Other screen-free activities for the family include solving 3-D puzzles, caroling in your neighborhood, baking holiday treats or doing arts and crafts.
