BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The holiday season is just around the corner and it’s always a great idea to start getting prepared weeks in advance before it’s too late. Thanksgiving is the season of giving and spending time with families and friends. The community will be doing their part in handing out items for the upcoming holiday.

If you are looking to pick up a Thanksgiving meal or items to prepare for your Thanksgiving dinners, there will be several places that will be offering giveaways during the holiday season.

We have compiled a list of places that will be handing out food for your upcoming Thanksgiving meal and will be updated as more are announced.

Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank

The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will host their holiday distributions on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at the two locations in Ascension Parish. One giveaway will be taking place at Lowery Middle School in Donaldsonville from 8-9:30 a.m. and the other will take place at Assumption Parish Community Center in Napoleonville from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Mayor Pro Tempore Lamont Cole and the MLK Center

Mayor Pro Tempore Lamont Cole and the MLK Center is presenting “Turkeys for Thanksgiving”. The event will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center on Tuesday, Nov. 21 and it will be from noon until they run out of turkeys. The turkey giveaway will be a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Queen Baton Rouge

The Queen Baton Rouge will hand out apple, pecan, and sweet potato pies from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22.

St. Vincent De Paul

St. Vincent De Paul will host a Thanksgiving event and food delivery from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 23.
