ZACHARY, La. (BRPROUD) – For the fifth day in a row, parents of students at Zachary High School received an update about the coronavirus.

The note sent out each day looked like this below:

ZHS families, we were notified that an individual at your school has tested positive for COVID-19. We are sharing this message with you to keep you informed. We immediately began contact tracing. All employees & students who came in close contact have received individual notification & have been quarantined. We will continue to operate in close collaboration with our health officials.
Thank you, ZCSD

The fifth notification came on the same day that the Louisiana Department of Health released their first set of numbers on COVID-19 outbreaks in K-12 schools.

Between the dates of Aug. 9 and Aug.15, over 2,000 students have tested positive for the coronavirus in the state.
