COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Louisiana


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – We are two days away from Christmas and the news from the Louisiana Department of Health is not good.

COVID-19 cases numbers continue to go up as the state saw over 2,000 cases for the second day in a row.

The number of COVID patients in hospitals went up to 306 overnight.

LDH is reporting 14,953 total COVID-19 deaths.

According to estimates from LDH, “the proportion of Omicron cases in our state is 84.6% for the week ending December 18.”

These numbers come two days after Gov. Edwards extended the Louisiana Public Health Emergency order.
