East Baton Rouge teachers to protest against the opening of schools

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Association of Educators is joining the East Baton Rouge Federation of Teachers and School Employees at a Wednesday afternoon protest.

The protest is said to be about the participants opposition to the reopening of schools.

“Educators will let the EBRP School Board know that it is unacceptable to put our lives, and our students’ lives in jeopardy by reopening schools in the midst of a pandemic,” East Baton Rouge Federation of Teachers said in a statement.

East Baton Rouge Schools Reopening Plans for 2020-2021 details 3 possible learning models based on an initial survey of parents and faculty.

The model that will be in effect on the first day of school has yet to be announced.

The protest is scheduled to take place from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in front of the EBRPSS Building which is located at 1050 S. Foster Dr.
