EBRCOA to hold drive-thru food pantry event in Zachary

ZACHARY, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) is holding another Drive-Thru Lotus Food Pantry event Friday morning.

The event is taking place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Coppermill Elementary School.

Coppermill Elementary School is located at 1300 Independence Blvd. in Zachary.

Seniors from East Baton Rouge Parish are eligible to take advantage of this opportunity while supplies last.

“We’ve been fortunate to host food distribution events in every corner of the Parish during the pandemic. This week’s event will be strategically placed in Zachary’s heart to provide our seniors in the Zachary, Baker, Central, and Chaneyville areas access to fresh groceries. These events are invaluable to our seniors, and the demand grows astronomically with each one,” said Tasha Clark-Amar, Chief Executive Officer of EBRCOA. 

EBRCOA has given the following the pick-up instructions for this event:

  • Seniors should drive up to Coppermill Elementary School and pop their trunk
  • EBRCOA staff member will place their groceries, lunch, and supplies into their vehicle.
  • EBRCOA will distribute bags of groceries, gallons of milk donated by Borden’s Dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables, face masks, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper, while supplies last.

The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging is located at 5790 Florida Blvd.
