EBRSO sergeant dies from COVID-19 complications

BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA/WGMB) — The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its own, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Sgt. Gregory Warren, 53, died Sunday from COVID-19 and pneumonia complications, Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said in a Facebook post.

Warren served in the sheriff’s office for 26 years, most recently as a supervisor for its transportation department.

Five EBRSO employees were ill this week, though none serve in the uniform patrol tasked with public interaction. The sheriff’s office is sanitizing its operations in response to the outbreak.
